Summer Fun: Bird Watching

So I’ve been considering inexpensive hobbies to try out over the summer and my girlfriend suggested bird watching as an inexpensive way to get outdoors and have some fun. Personally I love the idea! We have a national park right down the street from us as well as a number of state parks in our local area, so I don’t think finding a place to go will be a problem.

From what I understand bird watching typically involves getting up very early in the morning, so at the very least I’ll be able to get outside in the cool morning air rather than the hot humid grossness that is the average summer day here…maybe I’d prefer Canada? Anyone know what a summer day is like in Ontario?

For gear I’ve already picked up a birdwatching guidebook as well as a pair of binoculars from Opticsplanet…I considered night vision goggles, but the gf did not approve, for some reason! Regardless the shipping was free (as is any purchase over $30 or so) so I’m happy!

Wow! I’ve never known before that bird watching is a hobby. It must be exciting and relaxing! I love birds and their songs. Moreover, I am fond of birds singing in the mornings!
