Happy New Year! My Financial Progress Report

Hello Everyone! It appears the holidays have come and gone, and as such I hope to be a bit more reliable once again now that I’m back into my groove. I don’t know about you, but my year was fantastic, and I really do hope that this continues into the new year.

As a way to set myself up for some goals for next year, I went through my savings and noted the changes in balance over the last 6 months. Taking into account my emergency fund, 401k, IRA, brokerage, Prosper, and Paypal Money Market account, my savings/investments have increased about 68% since that day in June. Wow! It should be noted of course that I did not have very much in the way of savings, and such large percentage increases are less likely in the future as my accounts begin to swell with funds.

I have also met my pledge made in September stating that I will not be taking on any sort of new debt. So far, so good!

Where to go for the future? I’m breaking down the numbers and looking to establish some realistic goals in my net worth increase for the year. I’m currently aiming for a 35% increase in savings/investments for the year of 2008. This will depend of course on my savings rate, additional sources of income, and performance of my portfolio in the coming months.

Wish me luck, not that I’ll need it, eh?
